Ford Flex Fuel Economy

The seven-passenger Flex compact crossover wagon is offered in SE, SEL, Limited, and Titanium trim levels. Here’s a brief report on Ford Flex fuel economy and engine performance.

Engine Specs

Ford Flex comes standard with a 3.5-L V6 engine, which delivers 262 horsepower and torsion of about 248 lb-ft, paired with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. It comes with the choice of all-wheel and front-wheel drive.

Optional on SE, SEL, and Titanium trims is the twin-turbocharged 3.5-L Eco Boost V6 engine is capable of delivering 350 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque, mated to 6-speed auto with manual shift control.

Performance

In performance testing, Flex equipped with standard V6 engine went from 0-60 mph in 8.8 seconds, while EcoBoost engine hit 60 mph in just 6.6 seconds.

Gas Mileage

The EPA fuel economy estimates are 16 mpg in city, 22 mpg on highways, resulting in combined mileage of 18 mpg with all-wheel drive and 17/24/19 mpg with front-wheel drive.

Despite the added power and better performance, the AWD Flex equipped with EcoBoost V6 engine manages to achieve the same fuel economy as the standard V6.

There is no drastic change in Ford Flex fuel economy since 2008.
